Description

Ground Beef Philly Cheesesteak is a quick and flavorful sandwich made with seasoned ground beef, sautéed peppers and onions, and melted provolone cheese served on toasted hoagie rolls.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 medium onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 medium green bell pepper, thinly sliced
  • 1 cup mushrooms, sliced (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt to taste
  • Black pepper to taste
  • 4 slices provolone cheese
  • 4 hoagie rolls
  • Olive oil for cooking

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  2. Add onions and bell peppers and sauté for 3 to 5 minutes until tender.
  3. Add mushrooms if using and cook for 3 more minutes.
  4. Push vegetables aside and add ground beef, breaking it apart and cooking until no longer pink.
  5. Stir in garlic powder, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper and cook for 2 minutes.
  6. Reduce heat to low, place provolone slices over the beef mixture, and cover until melted.
  7. Slice hoagie rolls lengthwise.
  8. Spoon beef mixture into rolls and serve hot.

Notes

  1. Do not overcrowd the skillet to allow proper browning.
  2. Toast the hoagie rolls for added texture.
  3. Store leftover filling in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
