Description

This Hawaiian Cheesecake Danish combines a flaky, buttery puff pastry with a rich, creamy cheesecake filling infused with tropical pineapple and coconut flavors. Finished with a sweet glaze, this easy-to-make treat is perfect for breakfast, brunch, or a delightful dessert!

For the Danish Pastry:

  • 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
  • 4 oz (113g) cream cheese, softened
  • 2 tbsp granulated sugar
  • ½ tsp vanilla extract
  • ½ cup (120g) crushed pineapple, well-drained
  • ¼ cup (20g) sweetened shredded coconut
  • 1 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 1 egg + 1 tbsp water (for egg wash)

For the Glaze:

  • ½ cup (60g) powdered sugar
  • 1 tbsp pineapple juice (or milk)
  • ½ tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

Prepare the Filling:

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a mixing bowl, beat together cream cheese, sugar, vanilla extract, and flour until smooth.
  3. Fold in crushed pineapple and shredded coconut. Set aside.

Assemble the Danish:

  1. Roll out the puff pastry and cut it into four equal squares.
  2. Spoon about 1-2 tablespoons of the cheesecake filling onto the center of each square.
  3. Fold two opposite corners over the filling and press lightly to seal.
  4. Brush the pastries with egg wash for a golden finish.

Bake the Danish:

  1. Bake for 15-18 minutes, or until the pastries are puffed and golden brown.
  2. Allow them to cool slightly before glazing.

Prepare the Glaze & Serve:

  1. In a small bowl, whisk together powdered sugar, pineapple juice, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  2. Drizzle the glaze over the warm Danish pastries and enjoy!

Notes

  • Storage: Keep in an airtight container at room temperature for 1 day, or refrigerate for up to 3 days.
  • Reheating: Warm in a 350°F (175°C) oven for 5 minutes to crisp up the pastry.
