1 tbsp (15 ml) mirin (Japanese sweet rice wine)
-
1 tsp (5 ml) honey

Salt and pepper, to taste

Instructions
-
Season Steak
Season steak pieces with salt and pepper. -
Sear Steak
In a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat, heat 1 tbsp vegetable oil. Sear steak for 2–3 minutes per side until browned. Remove and set aside. -
Sauté Mushrooms & Onions
Add remaining vegetable oil and sesame oil. Stir in mushrooms and onions; cook for 4–5 minutes until softened. -
Add Zucchini
Add zucchini sticks and sauté for another 2–3 minutes until golden. -
Garlic Butter Step
Push veggies aside. Melt 1 tbsp butter in the center and sauté garlic for 30 seconds until fragrant. -
Make the Sauce
Mix soy sauce, mirin, and honey. Pour over the veggies and stir to coat. -
Return Steak & Finish
Add steak back to pan and stir to combine. Simmer 1–2 minutes. Stir in last tbsp of butter. -
Garnish & Serve
Sprinkle with sesame seeds and green onions. Serve hot with rice, noodles, or your favorite hibachi sides.
Notes
Don’t overcrowd the pan—sear steak in batches for best results.
Substitute mirin with rice vinegar and sugar if needed.
Want a kick? Add chili flakes or a splash of sriracha to the sauce.
Vegetarian-friendly if you swap beef with tofu or mushrooms.
Make it gluten-free by using tamari instead of soy sauce.
