Description

This yummy homemade peach jam recipe uses only peaches, sugar, and lemon juice for a fresh and delicious spread without pectin.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 1/2 pounds peaches, peeled, pitted, and cut into chunks
  • 2 1/2 cups sugar
  • Juice from 1 lemon

Instructions

  1. Wash, peel, pit, and chop the peaches into chunks.
  2. Add peaches and lemon juice to a medium saucepan over medium-high heat.
  3. Bring the mixture to a boil while crushing peaches to desired consistency.
  4. Reduce heat slightly and stir in the sugar until dissolved.
  5. Return the peach mixture to a rolling boil while stirring frequently.
  6. Cook for 15 to 25 minutes until the jam thickens and coats the spoon.
  7. Remove from heat and let the jam cool slightly.
  8. If the jam is too thin, boil for another 10 minutes and cool again.
  9. Transfer jam to clean jars and refrigerate or process for canning.

Notes

  1. Use ripe peaches for the best flavor.
  2. Do not reduce the sugar too much or the jam may not set properly.
  3. Cooking time may vary depending on peach juiciness.
  4. Jam thickens more as it cools.
