- 1–2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 large onion, diced
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 can (15 oz) diced tomatoes
- 1 can (15 oz) tomato sauce
- 1/3 cup tomato paste
- 4 cups chicken broth
- 1–2 cups water
- 1 tablespoon Italian seasoning
- 1 teaspoon salt
- Black pepper
- 8 ounces bowtie pasta
- Ricotta cheese
- Mozzarella cheese
- Parmesan cheese
- Fresh parsley
Instructions
- Heat olive oil and brown beef with onion and garlic.
- Drain excess fat.
- Add tomatoes, tomato sauce, tomato paste, broth, seasoning, and pasta.
- Bring to a boil.
- Reduce heat and simmer 10-15 minutes.
- Adjust consistency with water or broth.
- Serve topped with ricotta, mozzarella, Parmesan, and parsley.
Notes
- Use sturdy pasta for best leftovers.
- Substitute any ground meat if desired.
- Use crushed tomatoes for a smoother broth.
- Marinara sauce can replace tomato products.
- Add broth when reheating.
