- 1 ½ lb 80/20 Ground Beef
- 1 Large Yellow Onion thinly sliced
- ¼ cup Avocado Oil
- Salt
- Black Pepper
- 4 Hamburger Buns
- 8 slices American Cheese
Instructions
- Preheat the griddle to medium high heat until it reaches about 425 degrees.
- Divide the ground beef into 3 ounce portions and roll each into a loose ball.
- Slice the onion into very thin slices.
- Lightly oil the griddle surface with avocado oil.
- Place four small piles of sliced onions on the griddle and place one beef ball on each pile.
- Season the beef with salt and pepper.
- Use a burger press to smash the beef firmly into the onions to form thin patties.
- Cook until the tops turn mostly brown with some pink spots.
- Scrape under each burger and flip it carefully.
- Add a slice of American cheese on top and cook for 1 to 2 more minutes.
- Stack two patties together and place them on a hamburger bun.
- Repeat the process for the remaining burgers and serve hot.
