Description

Thai Basil Beef Rolls made with savory ground beef, garlic, ginger, Thai basil, fresh herbs, and crunchy vegetables wrapped in warm tortillas for a fast 20-minute dinner.


Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 pounds ground beef
  • Black pepper
  • 4 cloves garlic, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon grated ginger or 1/4 cup candied ginger
  • 13 teaspoons Chinese five spice
  • 1/3 cup tamari or soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup Thai chili sauce
  • 1/4 cup chopped green onions
  • 4 Persian cucumbers, chopped
  • 2 cups cilantro, chopped
  • 1/2 cup Thai basil, chopped
  • 1/3 cup chopped roasted peanuts
  • 810 flour tortillas
  • Chili paste, for serving
  • Toasted sesame oil, for serving

Instructions

  1. Cook ground beef with black pepper in a large skillet over medium heat until browned.
  2. Add garlic, ginger, and Chinese five spice and cook until fragrant.
  3. Stir in tamari and Thai chili sauce and simmer until sauce coats the beef.
  4. Remove from heat and stir in some green onions.
  5. Fill warm tortillas with beef, cucumber, cilantro, basil, peanuts, and remaining green onions.
  6. Roll tightly and serve warm with chili paste and sesame oil.

Notes

  1. Use ground chicken or pork if desired.
  2. Adjust spice level to taste.
  3. Serve with rice to make it a full dinner.
